Witch's Apothecary Herbal Kit
Witch's Apothecary Herbal Kit
Just in time for cold and flu season, a collection of my favorite herbal remedies. As we move into the cooler months of the year our health and body care routines need additional herbal support. Included with your kit is an in-depth information sheet for how to use each item. Total value of kit is $157.
What’s inside:
-Fire Cider (4oz glass bottle) This is my absolute go to throughout the year as an everyday remedy. This spicy and sweet apple cider vinegar tonic is made with pungent horseradish root, onions, garlic, raw honey and a host of medicinal herbs and spices. Fire Cider is antibacterial and antiviral, making it an effective cold and flu fighter. It can also alleviate seasonal allergy symptoms, and because it’s an anti-inflammatory it can also ease arthritis pains. I take it daily and double up the dosage at the first sign of a sore throat or runny nose.
-Elderberry Syrup (4oz glass bottle) Right alongside Fire Cider, Elderberry Syrup should be in every herbal medicine cabinet. Elderberries are a powerful antiviral and help shorten the length of colds and flu. Like Fire Cider, this is a great everyday tonic, helping to prevent viruses, but once you are sick with cold or flu, it can shorten the length of time you’re unwell. It’s also delicious with a little seltzer or in a cocktail.
-Rose and Vanilla Chai (4oz tin) Chai is a favorite in my house, especially on cold days when you need a comforting pick-me-up. Made with Assam loose leaf black tea, organic rose petals, cardamon, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla beans, this is the perfect tea for curling up with a book on a rainy day.
-Yarrow Tincture (1oz glass dropper bottle) Another must-have for your apothecary. Yarrow is excellent at reducing fever, soothing sore throats and fights inflammation. It can also speed the healing of wounds and alleviates gastrointestinal issues. Emerging studies also show that it’s helpful in treating depression and anxiety.
-Spring Tonic Tincture (1oz glass dropper bottle) Made from my favorite spring herbs; nettles, burdock root, dandelion root, ginger root, and lemon. These are nutrient rich herbs that support liver health, useful if you overindulge in alcohol around the festive season. I also like this when my body is feeling sluggish or overtired from too much work.
-Calm Tincture (1oz glass dropper bottle) Anxiety and depression are mental ailments that I am intimately aware of. After 2 decades of trying various pharmaceuticals and not feeling any better, I started researching nervine herbs and found Rosemary Gladstar’s simple but very effective formula. Made from passionflower, chamomile, and lemon balm, Calm tincture is gentle enough for everyday use.
-Slumber Tincture (1oz glass dropper bottle) Made with valerian root, hops, and lavender, this is a nonaddictive and effective remedy for those who either have a hard time falling asleep or struggle to stay asleep through the night. Valerian root is pretty funky tasting so you may want to take it in water or juice if you hate the flavor.
-Hag Hands Ointment (2oz tin) Cold winter weather can dry our skin so I’ve combined rich emollient olive oil, shea butter, and coconut oil with beeswax for a rich healing all-over ointment. The olive oil is infused with my homegrown rosemary, white pine and a tiny bit of orange essential oil. Excellent for rough hands, knees, elbows, or anywhere else you need dry skin relief.
-Eclipse Drawing Salve (1oz tin) From one of my favorite herbalists, Andi Webb of Every Light Wellness. Drawing salve is herbal first aid for topical wounds. Often used to draw splinters from wounds, it also fights infection and soothes minor boo-boos and bug bites. Andi is also an astrologist and I love her work so much. Visit her over on IG @everylightwellnessllc and on her website www.everylightwellness.squarespace.com
-Lemon Balm Ointment (.5oz tin) Cold sores happen. Lemon balm, a powerful antiviral, can help shorten the length of time they hang around. I’ve combined my homegrown lemon balm with soothing olive oil, shea butter, and coconut oil to moisturize and soothe angry bumps. Gentle and safe for both oral and genital flare ups. Works great as a cuticle cream too.
-Four Thieves Herbal Incense Cones (7 handmade cones) Our houses can feel stuffy during the winter months when it’s too cold to open doors and windows, so I created something to bust out the cobwebs. This all herbal incense contains no fragrance oils or chemicals and burns evenly and clean. Made from rosemary, thyme, sage, and cinnamon.
