Inspired by Isobel Gowdie’s confession at her 1662 witchcraft trial that she was able to turn into a hare at the Devil’s behest after she had made a pact with Him. She also confessed to sometimes turning into a jackdaw, and said that other members of her coven could also turn into hares and cats in order to carry out the Devil’s tasks.
