Beloved Dead Pure Beeswax Pillars
Beloved Dead Pure Beeswax Pillars
These hand poured beeswax pillars are my favorite candles for extended workings. I do a lot of 7-day workings, and I use sewing pins to mark seven sections on the candle after dressing and inscribing. Pins are used in witchcraft to target intent, among other uses, and I find pins pressed into the candle a good way to mark the time I need to burn the candle each day. I chose blue and black sort of intuitively; these were the colors that kept appearing while I was deciding on the kit contents, and I strongly associated blue-black as the color of midnight; the hour when I do most of my rituals. Black is associated with death but I felt like a solid black candle was too “heavy” for the kinds of workings I imagined doings and blue felt right; respectful but not overly somber. One way that I suggest using the candle is to carve any appropriate symbols or sigils and dress it with your chosen oil and herbs. I like to say a few words to a deity or the spirits that I’m working with to let them know that I’m dedicating the candle to them. In your kit, you’ll find scrying ink, paper, and a dip pen that can all be used with your candle ritual. One thought I had was to write a letter, symbol, poem or a Rorschach blot (more on that later) and either place it under your candle while it burns. But the idea that really excited me was an alchemical one, albeit abbreviated. After inking your paper with whatever you decide, burn it and collect the ashes. Take those ashes and mix with your ritual oil, consecrate it, and dress your candle with that and any herbs you find meaning to your ritual. I’d anoint myself with this oil too any time I was doing a working involving ancestors. These candles burn for 13+ hours. Please practice candle safety. Dressed candles behave like torches and herbs and oil are flammable. Don’t leave the room while your candle is lit, use a heat proof vessel that can catch any drips as holder, and keep pets and children away from it.
Candles measure 1.25 inches by 6 inches.
