As we move into the dark half of the year, many of us become introspective and meditative, naturally thinking of loved ones and kin who have passed as the year wanes.

As the last kit from Prairie Fire until next Spring, I wanted this one to feel special and I spent many months considering meaningful ways we can connect with our Beloved Dead. I hope that I’ve assembled something that will give new layers of depth to your ancestral rites and that these tools will help re-enchant your witchcraft practice.

ANCESTRAL OFFERING INCENSE - Contains homegrown garden sage and rosemary, alpine evergreen needles from my foraging trips to NM, and other aromatic herbs. I left this chunky rather finely powdering it to allow each herb to retain it’s own scent. Bigger chunks smolder rather than burning quickly. This makes lots of lovely white plumes of smoke to send your message to the beyond. Burn on a charcoal disc.

PATCHOULI TOBACCO ROSE RITUAL OIL - Use to anoint your body, your spell papers, add a few drops to your offering dish, dress your candle with it. Spirits are drawn to scent, so I chose patchouli for its Underworld connotations, tobacco to symbolize those things spirits enjoyed in life and crave in the afterlife , and rose for it’s ability to heal broken hearts and soften anger.

HYSSOP AND GREEN CLAY RITUAL SALT CLEANSE - When we do rituals, when we call on spirits, when we petition deities, we ritually cleanse ourselves as a sign of respect and to clear any negativity clinging to us. I chose big chunky pink Himalayan salt combined with really good French green clay, added emollient jojoba and rose hip oils to keep skin soft and finished it with cleansing hyssop and a little orange to uplift your mood.

ELDERBERRY AND CHOCOLATE TEA - Rich malty black English breakfast tea loaded with elderberries, strawberries, hibiscus flowers and cocoa nibs. It’s jammy and full bodied and there’s enough to share a cup with your ancestors.

RITUAL DATURA AND FRANKINCENSE SCRYING INK - Velvety blue-black ink for water scrying or penning a letter or poem. Infused with datura flowers from my own garden.

EMPORIUM BLACK DATURA AND JASMINE NIGHTSHADE TRUFFLE -If you’ve never tried one of Seamus’ truffles, you’re in for something special. Made with fine white chocolate and infused with datura to facilitate spirit work and communication. I’ll include detailed instructions for consuming this baneful treat.

CALEA ZACATECHICHI TINCTURE - This herb functions as both a mild relaxant and a dream intensifier. Many report more vivid dreams, lucid dreaming and better dream recall. I find my ancestors contact me most frequently in dreams but I often forget those dreams as soon as I wake. This herbal tincture will help you remember more of those details.

BELOVED DEAD RITUAL BEESWAX PILLAR - Hand poured raw beeswax 6 inch pillar. I chose my black solid color pillars and dipped them in midnight blue for the deepest color. I love these for 7 day spells and rituals. Pure cotton wicks burn cleanly. Burn time is 13+ hours for extra long workings. Dress with your own herbs or use the included herb packet. Excellent for carving sigils.
